In a moment of randomness, I tried to drag a Firefox tab into Google Chrome, only to find that it worked! Just like dragging tabs into an order in firefox, or between firefox windows, you can drag them into this increasingly impressive browser. This is a one-way relationship however, as firefox will not return the favour and accept Chrome’s tabs, although it is likely that there is or will be an add on in future to do so.
It seems that Google are aware of browser-loyality for firefox users, (who were freed from the clutches of IE) and are making the transition as easy as possible
I found this in the change of the BBQ takings at the Cowfold fair! It’s one of the 2009 mismatched coins that has no date and I am auctioning it for charity.
Edit: Update! The coin sold for £120.00 and the money will be given to a local village’s charity committee dedicated to raise money for local charities.
Ok, so UCAS has told me that I have 4 rejections. Except So’ton have said I am on their reserves! I am not completely untrainable! Totally wishing that this had come sooner. Totally unprepared for my exams but will do my best. Looks like I will most likely be reapplying next year anyway.
So, have had a no from Penninsula now as well. Results were ok, but yet again it looks like June will be resit city. The lack of responses is awful as most people have secured their places, applied for finance and even got their accommodation. I am just maintaining my vision and trying to keep up with my goals.
I am due to start volunteering at Chestnut Tree House - a children’s hospice which should be an incredibly humbling experience and I can’t wait.
Just making sure I have things (definite things) to look forward to really helps to ignore the lack of offers etc, although with my grades as they are, it is hard to imagine getting in even if I do get an offer. But, the lack of offers makes it hard to work hard. It’s a bit circular really.
In order to convert time in hours:minutes:seconds.milliseconds (hh:mm:ss.00) in excel, simply set the cell format to “[ss].00″. This is a custom format.
Make sure that you have enough s’s to cover the number of seconds there will be. e.g if the format is [ss].00 and your data is 3 minutes, then although you have 180 seconds, this will only appear as 80.00. If the cell format is [sss].oo you will get 180.00
Took me an age to figure out without the use of muliplication!
This might be common knowledge, bu-ut as it took me hours (read as “15 long minutes”) to figure it out, I thought I’d share the wealth!!
In order to insert a tick into your word document, you need to go to Insert -> Symbol and then change the font to any variation of wingdings, and find yourself a tick!
Obvious now, but wasn’t when I desperately needed one.
Well, I didn’t want to go to Brighton and Sussex anyway. Too close, too convenient, to amazing. Gah. Not exactly fair as it is my birthday soon, but I will keep going.
Received some postcards and letters from all but BSMS so far to say thank you and that they have my application. BSMS don’t send these out so DO NOT PANIC like I did!
It’s starting to get tough now. People at college are receiving offers and I am not. It’s difficult, but you just got to stick with it. It’ll be worth it in the end. I personally don’t have a “back up” choice as well which I don’t think helps!
Revision time now, and should really knuckle down but what with coursework, work, housework, volunteering and anxiously checking UCAS there is not much room for doing it! I’ve got a timetable and when I stick to it, it is really helpful:
Blocked out time slots for each day.
Got small multicoloured post-its that fit in the holes.
Each colour represents a subject, and then there are pink ones for things like work, volunteering, relaxing etc so I can be flexible each week as long a I have x number of blues/greens/yellows/purples for my revision!
Just finished the BrightMed Course at BSMS which was amazing. I really loved it there. Got to do a dissection which was amazing (put me off lamb though) and also went through my personal statement so far, which I feel is starting to look quite good!
We learned some basic anatomy and also blood pressure, heart exams and reflex tests which will be useful I am sure! I totally lost my voice through-out the entire thing so I am hoping that this will help me stand out when they read my application – Oh you remember her lost her voice…. amazing girl.. unconditional offer… etc We’ll see.
Tip:
Go on as many of these courses as you can. This was free, but if you can saved up and go on more, then do. But be careful, some are useless. BrightMed = amazing, check forums and see what other people think of the course you want to do.
MAKE FRIENDS WITH YOUR TUTORS! Their references are quite important, especially when you’ve had some time off with a chest infection, otherwise your attendance will be “satisfactory” and your university will be told that you are “working on it”.
